Mythological greek god
Being the god of travelers by which he guides and son of Zeus and nymph Maia, Hermes is also the messenger of the Greek gods. Born in a cave on Mount. Cyllene in Arcadia, when dawn broke Hermes unwrapped himself from his mom’s arms and went to steel cattle from his brother Apollo that afterwards found out and wanted his cattle back but at last Hermes gave his lyre (instrument) which enchanted Apollo. His duty was to guide the souls of the dead to the underworld, he also brings dreams to mortals. Hermes had numerous affairs with goddesses, nymphs, mortals and even goats or sheep, this is why he is known to be the father of Aphrodite, the half man half horse , Pan and many more. Hermes enchanted with his flute for the good just like he did with his great abilities to persuade Calypso into freeing Odysseus forever from her island. Now in days in some places Hermes is credited for inventing the flute, foot-racing and boxing. Most of us know him as the god with the winged sandals. At Olympia and many gymnasiums throughout Greece, a statue of Hermes stands at the entrance. I learned this because many Roman artists draw Hermes as athletic and good looking. Which concludes my interest in this specific god.
